First of all, I apologise for the rampant alliteration! Now, If you’re planning on going anywhere this April you’d better be get ready to face some occasional nasty weather, since everyone always forgets just how wet, windy and generally miserable an April shower can be. Instead of hanging onto summer’s shirttails this year though, make sure you’ve got your wellington boots at the ready. In past years, people wait far too long before getting them out, like myself, and end up having the same terrible week I have:
Monday
You drag yourself out of bed in the morning, ready to face another week. The past few weeks have been dry though, so you put on some toms, slip into a perfectly colour coded outfit and attempt to get rid of that zombie-chic look you’re sporting after every weekend. On your journey to work you happen to realise there are quite a few rainclouds hanging around, but now it’s too late to turn back and grab some proper boots. A few minutes later it’s pouring with rain and your feet are soaking wet. This is not a good day.
Tuesday
Before bed on Monday you checked the weather report for the next day, so on Tuesday you’re certain you’re ready. You go for some ankle boots this time, but since you failed to actually look outside at the current state of the weather, the rain still manages to seep into your loose-ankled boots. Your feet are wet, again. Not a great improvement over Monday.
Wednesday
This time, you check the weather report and look outside in the morning. It’s not raining, so you decide to wear your fabric boots, because they go so well with your outfit and should keep out any potential showers. Then, guess what? Torrential rain hammers down and by the end of the day you have soggy shoes and drenched feet. This isn’t going well.
Thursday
By Thursday you’re feeling pretty glum. The weather is playing havoc with your fashion, and turning up to school/college/university/work with squelchy musical shoes isn’t fun. The only semi-waterproof boots you own are your snow boots, so you put them on. Turns out snow boots don’t fare so well against thunder storms though, and you still end up with vaguely damp feet, but they are nice and warm at least.
Friday
You’ve had it with all of the other footwear on your shoe rack. It’s time to get down to business. Reaching into the very depths of your wardrobe, you pull out your wellies. Now it’s personal. In the morning when you’re standing at your bus stop and people are looking at you like you’re having a fashion crisis, you simply hold your head high. You know it’s going to rain eventually, and it’s only a matter of time. By the end of the day it’s stopped spitting and is in the midst of a full-on rainstorm. You confidently jump in all the puddles on the way home, because you’re wearing wellies and you can. You might get stared at but who cares? Your feet are dry and you can enjoy your Friday properly!
Fortunately, it’s sunny at the weekend so you can flex your fashionista styles once again! Then it rains again, of course.

January 9th, 2011Ladies FashionSkin and wrinkles-
As skin ages and also with the effect of sun damage our dermal layer that contains collagen and elastin fibers that support the upper skin layer, lose lot of collagen. As the collagen is lost, wrinkles form and cannot be repaired unless the collagen is brought back. This is done by collagen implants or collagen injections. This is a very simple procedure and will give your skin a young look again. Let us find out more about skin and collagen implants.
Types of collagen for skin implants -
You have a choice of human collagen or bovine collagen. The body of most of the people accepts both these types. Your surgeon will decide upon the choice of collagen that has to be used for you.
Collagen skin injection procedure-
In this procedure the doctor will first discuss with you about the types of wrinkles that can be removed with collagen injections. Once both of you decide about the wrinkles, collagen will be injected below the skin near the wrinkle with a fine needle. It is not a very painful procedure. You may feel some swelling for a day or two.
Collagen implants in skin and repetition of procedure-
As collagen is a protein, the body will slowly absorb it. You may need another injection after some months. This also depends upon the location of the wrinkles. Areas that you use very often may need injection earlier than those you don’t use so often. For example, all your face area near your mouth is most used as you speak. That portion may need an injection sooner than other areas. Collagen injections are one of the easiest ways to remove wrinkles and get a young looking face again.

January 4th, 2011Ladies FashionWhen It Comes To Skin, There Is Nothing To Hide!
There is no need to hide your skin…in fact, take a closer look. Though it seems that the only rational way to mask signs of aging is by slathering pricey creams and lotions endlessly on the skin, all you really achieve is the result of an empty promise. And let’s face it, trying to hide your face from the crowd doesn’t make anything go away.
There are many options available on pledging to help achieve younger-looking skin. Supplements, vitamins, lotions and potions line store shelves for the sole purpose of being tested by consumers in hopes of becoming rid of wrinkles. Why then does it seem that those stubborn wrinkles get worse with time, no matter the extent taken?
The answer is this: The skin is composed of its own hardworking ingredients that help keep it looking young and healthy. Unfortunately, with time, these ingredients slowly diminish and the barriers against the environment and aging break down, resulting in the effect of fine lines and wrinkles. It then becomes harder for the skin to fight new wrinkles and existing wrinkles become more visible. Coenzyme Q10 and creatine are two perfect examples of this. Both are found naturally in the skin and are responsible for keeping skin looking young and healthy. However, they too deplete with time. Thankfully, a line of products is available that effectively replaces these two essential ingredients.
The scientists behind Nivea Visage have developed a collection of products that are specifically formulated to give skin back the anti-wrinkle power it loses over time. It does it with a powerful formulation that combines coenzyme Q10 and creatine. These ingredients improve the skin’s ability to fight new and existing wrinkles caused by age and sun damage.
So the next time you want to avoid showing your face…reach for a product from the Nivea Visage Q10 Advanced Wrinkle Reducer collection instead. You will realize it is better to assist the skin at something it is already a master at doing than hiding after all.

December 30th, 2010Ladies FashionThe term cellulite originated in European spas and salons and they explain it as deposits of tiny fat globules on the buttocks and thighs. Cellulite is a buildup of lumpy, thick, irregular fat deposits with an orange peel appearance. The most common areas are around the buttocks, hips, and thighs, and is not necessarily a factor of body weight. You do not have to be heavy to have cellulite. Nevertheless, it is possible to reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Cellulite is not a medical term. However, medical professionals agree that it is a buildup of common fatty tissue. The skin is connected by strands of fibrous tissues to deeper tissue layers, which separates the fat cell compartments. The increase in the size of fat cells is accompanied by a waffled appearance of the skin that results in the bulging of the fat cell compartments.
Speedy metabolism and detoxification in the body help in gradual elimination of cellulite. A healthy metabolism is capable of eradicating cellulite forever. The proper functioning of the liver is also necessary for detoxification.
Bio-ceramic additive reflects your body’s own infrared rays, which help to break down cellulite cells and revitalize tissue. Increased heat and molecular stimulation enhances the effectiveness of exercise, increases blood flow, and accelerates metabolism to burn more calories.
Women who are concerned about cellulite can take certain steps to reduce the appearance or eliminate it altogether. Eating a well balance diet that is low in fat will help to reduce and eliminate further progression. Exercise is also an important factor; if the body is toned, it results in good circulation, thus another step in reducing cellulite. In addition, drinking plenty of water has many health benefits and will aid in fighting cellulite.Genetics and hormones may also play a factor in whether you develop cellulite. While there is not much we can do about genetics and hormones, eating a healthy diet and exercise has proven to reduce and even avoid cellulite.

December 25th, 2010Ladies FashionRetro glam looks of the past are back in a big way-and not just on runway supermodels. Fashionable women across America are sporting a multitude of styles from previous decades, but with a few contemporary twists.
Try these cost-effective tips from celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose. He can help you join the vintage-meets-modern revolution.
Makeup? Make down-Update your look by eradicating that made-up look. Rather than using both a foundation and bronzer, stick to mineral powder and blush. Blush adds warmth to the face and emphasizes facial contours. Add a subtle touch of color to the high edge of the cheek-bones and blend to create a natural-looking blush on the cheeks. To create a look that screams vintage glamor, experiment with this season’s popular apricot or pale pink hues.
Lighten to brighten-This season, less really is more. Ditch the hard shades and harsh liner and stick to light, barely-there colors with a subtle shimmer to instantly brighten your gaze. To achieve a glamorous, wide-eyed look with instant sex appeal, apply an extra coat of mascara to the outer corners of lashes. Feeling ultra-chic? Trade your traditional mascara for one in dark purple or sage.
Create that perfect pout-Both beautiful and daring, bold, vintage lip color is the easiest way to add a punch of drama to any ensemble. For a show-stopping effect, make sure your pearly whites are up to date by using Crest Whitestrips Supreme, the highest whitening power available in a strip. Sold exclusively at dental offices, these strips deliver dramatic, professional results that are first visible after only three days. The strips enable you to whiten to your desired level at home, through the help of your dentist.
Do a new ‘Do-Turn heads at any party by mixing a simple, classic hairstyle or cut with ultra-modern hues or low-lights. For longer-haired femmes, try a bouffant or a sleek 1940s-style high ponytail. For those with short hair, experiment with ’20s-style face-framing waves.

December 17th, 2010Ladies FashionThe popularity of tattoos among women is growing at an unprecedented rate. Over the past ten years, the number of women lining up at doors of tattoo studios has rocketed. Tattoos are now a mainstream fashion accessory for women, occupying the same category as shoes and handbags.
However, tattoos haven’t always been popular among women. Fifty years ago, tattoos were almost the exclusive preserve of men. Only ten percent of tattoos belonged to women. And as recently as the 1980’s there was a general belief in society that a women who got tattooed was either a criminal, a lesbian or a whore.
These days, things are completely different. The traditional stereotypes and stigmas that surrounded tattoos have been swept away and women have the confidence to wear their tattoos with pride. Women are now responsible for 65% of all tattoos. In fact the market for female tattoos has grown so rapidly that as many as one in four women in the US have a tattoo.
But apart from the change in the number of women who are getting tattooed, the female tattoo market has undergone a couple of significant changes.
1) Tattoo Placement
Previously, women who wanted a tattoo felt the need to position them on a part of their body where they could be kept well hidden. But these days women are proud of their tattoo designs and as such are placing them in more visible areas.
The stomach and lower back are two of the most popular areas for tattoo placement. This suggests that women want to have the choice of whether or not to display their designs. It also indicates that most women now have the confidence to select a more sexual placement of their tattoo designs. Other popular locations for female tattoos include ankles and the front of the hips.
2) Tattoo Designs
The type of tattoo designs that women want have also changed. In the past, the few women who got a tattoo opted for something small, discreet and well hidden, such as a name, a small flower or a cute design.
Today, the tattoo designs chosen by women are generally larger and much bolder. Increasingly, women are willing to experiment with the size and style of tattoos. The most popular designs now include shooting stars, fairies, butterflies and unicorn. Larger tribal and celtic designs placed on the lower back are also incredibly popular.
But beyond that, many women now have the confidence to seek out custom tattoo designs that will be unique to them. They’re more style conscious than men, so they’re no longer happy strolling into the tattoo studio, taking a quick glance through the catalog and becoming another one of the thousands who already wear the same design.
Instead, women tend to take their time when searching for their perfect tattoo. They’re more likely to select a custom design, but only after ample consideration of how it will look and make them feel. This allows them to leave the tattoo studio with a design that they can wear with confidence and pride.

December 11th, 2010Ladies FashionTattoos are permanent marks made on the skin with ink or some other pigments. Tattoo designs highlight a variety of spiritual, magical, and religious beliefs. Tattoo designs range from simple designs to complicated and bold statements. Compared with custom art designs, tattoo designs are very simple and easy. Some tattoo designs are commonly worn by men and women.
Tattoo design professionals are in great demand all over the world. Tattoo designs are created by a needle attached to a hand-held tool or electric tattooing machine. Popular tattoo design themes are tribal tattoos, Celtic tattoos, fairy tattoos, cross tattoos, dragon tattoos, butterfly tattoos, and zodiac tattoos. Tribal tattoos draw inspiration from tribal art and include Maori designs, Aztec sun clocks, and Eskimo totems. Celtic tattoos offer a wide range of designs which are originated from the manuscripts and art forms of Ireland, England, and Scotland. Fairy tattoo designs combine fairy figures, hearts, flowers, glitter, crosses, stars, moons, suns, and other fantasy themes in different colors. Cross tattoos stand for spiritual rather than physical attributes. They represent love, compassion, and peace. Dragon tattoos are of two types: western and eastern dragon. Western dragon is associated with greed for wealth, a wicked character, and destruction. Eastern dragon is considered as benevolent, compassionate, the harbinger of fertility, and a signal of good fortune. Butterfly tattoo designs are available in varied color schemes and sizes. Zodiac tattoo design includes hearts, skulls, flowers, fairies, sun, moon, and stars.
There are different types of tattoo designs: abstractions, naturalistic tattoos, pledge or dedication deigns, simplifications or stylized designs, and complex structures or combinations. Temporary tattoo designs are also available, which last only a few days. Tattoo studios and tattoo artists offer excellent services in tattoo designs. These are also obtained from tattoo sites and tattoo art galleries.

December 2nd, 2010Ladies FashionDry, itchy skin affects more than 80 percent of Americans and can be most prevalent during the cold winter months – when humidity and temperature drop – making skin particularly vulnerable to dryness and cracking.
“Frigid temperatures and low humidity can contribute to dry, winter skin,” says New York City dermatologist Dr. Diane Berson. “It is important to take extra special care of skin during the winter, especially for those with sensitive skin. People with sensitive skin should look for products without dyes or fragrances.”
If you have a problem with dry skin, Berson recommends that you consider the following:
* What personal care products do you use? Sensitivity to fragrances and dyes commonly found in soaps, lotions and even deodorants can be a frequent cause of skin irritation. Look for personal care products specially formulated for sensitive skin that are hypoallergenic and free of dyes and perfumes, such as all Free Clear laundry detergent, the No.1 dermatologist and allergist recommended detergent for people with sensitive skin.
* Make the switch. As the temperature dips, your skin craves more moisture. Remember to replace lightweight summer lotion with lotions that have a higher concentration of emollients (lipids), which help skin seal in and retain moisture.
* Get vapor relief. Cranking up the thermostat in winter creates more dry heat, which can leave skin parched and lead to itchiness. Use a vaporizer, which produces hot steam, or humidifier, which produces cool mist, to add moisture to the air. Be sure to thoroughly clean and disinfect humidifiers regularly to prevent harmful particles from building up. This is especially important for people with mold allergies.
* Keep it cool. Chilly winters may make a long hot shower or bath sound enticing, but hot water can actually wash away skin’s natural oils, leaving it extra dry and itchy. Instead, take warm showers and pat skin dry. To lock in moisture, apply body lotions containing ingredients like petrolatum and glycerin which work to keep skin hydrated. – NU

November 25th, 2010Ladies FashionMost people suffer from headaches at one time or another, and many people in North American suffer from migraines, ranging in frequency from several times a year to once a month or more often. In many cases, a migraine or severe headache forces the sufferer into isolation until it goes away, damaging their ability to work, socialize, and generally live life to its fullest.
What most people dont already realize is that many migraines and headaches can be prevented through the regular use of a good set of sunglasses! Regardless of whether its the summer solstice or the frigid depths of winter, a high quality pair of sunglasses is a very useful preventive health item as well as a fashion accessory. Since bright light can trigger migraines, headaches, and contribute to tension and other disorders, a good pair of sunglasses can significantly improve your quality of life, as well as preventing serious eye degeneration that can eventually lead to blindness.
An effective pair of sunglasses should block both UVA and UVB rays, but new research suggests that High Energy Visible (HEV) light may also contribute to eye disorders, particularly in children. There is still insufficient data on this subject, but some manufacturers now design to block UV rays as well as HEV light, reducing your changes or visual damage from light sources.
Its very important to note that dark glasses are not the same as UV-exclusive glasses. Check to make sure that your shades are made by a reputable manufacturer, and that theyre certified to block out UVA and UVB at least – if they dont do this, its very possible that theyre worsening your exposure to harmful light by tricking your eyes into.
Since damage from UV exposure is cumulative, its important to regularly wear a high-quality set of sunglasses, and to start young. If you teach your children at a young age about the value of wearing good sunglasses, you may save their eyes from damage later and besides, everyone knows how cool a good set of shades look.

November 19th, 2010Ladies FashionSkin Care- Look Young Forever By Keeping Your Acid Mantle Healthy
Skin care and acid mantle-
What is acid mantle and why it is important for healthy skin? We all hear so much about pH-balanced products. How do they affect acid mantle? And how do we look young? If you know how to take care of the protective acid mantle, you have won half the battle. Let me tell you how?
Skin oils and acid mantle-
Skin secretes sebum and sweat. Both of these combine to create a protective film on the skin, which is called acid mantle. The mixture is acidic and its pH is between 4 to 5.5. Because of this acidity of this film, bacteria get killed and cannot attack the skin. Bacteria love alkalinity and the acid keeps them away. The acid mantle also protects skin from losing its moisture. If we strip the acid mantle away that can cause a lot of damage to our young looking skin.
Skin acid mantle- how do we strip it?
we strip the acid mantle by using alkaline soaps and cleansers. Sun exposure also strips the acid mantle. Those who have little oily skin are in a great rush to remove all the skin oils and manage to strip the oily acid mantle away. This exposes skin not only to bacteria but also the chances of triggering eczema etc. increases substantially.
Acne and acid mantle-
Many of those who have acne wash their face frequently. As a result they dry their skin totally. The acne may not go away, but the protective acid mantle surely goes away exposing the skin to more infections. Keep a healthy acid mantle on the skin and protect yourself. Use AHA mixed cleansers to maintain the acidity of the skin and use pH balanced products to keep skin young forever.
